Swedish writer Barbro Lindgren received Astrid Lindgren Memorial Prize


Author Barbro Lindgren, She is a writer from Sweden. This monday evening Barbro Lindgren got Astrid Lindgren Memorial Prize during a special award ceremomy with a full Stockholm Concert hall.

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA) is the world´s largest award for children´s and young adult literature. The award is almost for 521 000 EUR. The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Awards is every year and it is for Authors, illustrators, oral storytellers and promoters of reading are eligible.

H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden attended the Awards Ceremony, and presented the award and  Culture minister Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth accclaimed Barbro Lindgren for her literature creations:

– Barbro Lindgren is a brave and innovative author. She gives her readers courage and is not afraid to describe the world as it really is. Loneliness, setbacks, and even death are all part of life. Lindgren does not try to protect children; instead, her honesty, humor and openness strengthen children to think and talk about difficult things for themselves.

It was a wonderful evening at  Stockholm Concert Hall. After Barbro Lindgren got the prize, the audience at Concert Hall gave her standing ovations.  Congratulations Barbro Lindgren!
