The Stockholm International Film Festival celebrates its 35th anniversary

The 35th edition of the Stockholm International Film Festival will be from 6 to 17 November 2024. The film "Anora" by Sean Baker will be the opening film för the festival.

The festival is celebrating its 35th anniversary and this year it will present not only films that come from 50 different countries but also television series that have their own category. This year's focus is "Men in Crisis": an investigation into the male image that appears to be in the process of renegotiation.

The director Sean Baker will receive the "Stockholm Visionary Award" 2024

The film Anora, dramedy was the winning film of the Palme d´Or during the Cannes film festival 2024. Anora will be screening on November 6 at Bio Skandia. The same day the director Sean Baker will receive the "Stockholm Visionary Award" 2024 and he will have a face to face with the audience.
The Stockholm Visionary Award was established in 2004. The award has the aim of recognizing the visionaries in modern film. With "Anora", the director released his fifth feature film.

Director Costa-Gavras is the director awarded the Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award 2024.
 
The director Costa-Gavras will receive the Bronze Horse during a Face2Face that will be held on Saturday, November 9 at the Mauritz cinema. His film "Last Breath" will also be screened that day.

Jesse Eisenberg receives the Stockholm Achievement Award 2024

Jesse Eisenberg
is an actor and director. He will receive this year's Stockholm Achievement Award.
His latest film, "A real Pain", will screen at the festival and will be its premiere in the Nordic countries. The director will visit the festival to receive the award and will have a Face2Face at the Skandia cinema on November 14.

Director Steve McQueen receives the 2024 "Stockholm Visionary Award."
 
Steve McQueen, has won multiple Oscar Academy Awards. He will attend the Stockholm International Film Festival.  The  director Steve McQueen will receive the "Stockholm Visionary Award" and hold a face-to-face with the audience . His latest feature film "Blitz" will be screened at the cinema Skandia con November 12.

This year, the festival has a new section "Stockholm Series". The festival will screening four Swedish series: End of Summer ((Slutet på sommaren) by Jens Jonsson and Henrik Georgsson, The Helicopter Heist (Helikopterrånet) by Daniel Espinosa, The Pirate Bay by Jens Sjögren and the Cry Wolf (Vargasommar) by Jesper Ganslandt.
