Bart Moeyaert, Flemish author, the laureate of Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2019. He received the prize this evening. H.R.H Crown Princess Victoria presented the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award to author Bart Moeyaert during a ceremony at Concert Hall in Stockholm. Minister for Culture and Democracy Amanda Lind had a speech in honour of the laureate.

"Bart Moeyaert´s condensed and musical language vibrates with suppressed emotitons and unspoken desires. He portrays relationships at crisis point with a cinematic immediacy, even as his complex narratives suggest new ways forward. Bart Moeyaer´s luminus work underscores the fact that books for Children and young people have a self-evident Place in World literature."
