Mommy, a film by Xavier Dolan will show during the Stockholm film Festival


Mommy is a wonderful film by director Xavier Dolan. The film will be showed on november 6th during the Stockholm Film Festival. Xavier Dolan will attend the festival and he will have a Face2Face with the audience. The film has been selected to represent Canada in the for the Best Foreign-Language Film Academy Award 2015.  Xavier Dolan won the Jury Prize at the 67th Cannes Film Festival for Mommy.
A single mother Diane (Anne Dorval) whose has a teenege son Steve (Antoine-Olivier Pilon). Her son is suffering of ADHD and also problem with disorder and hyperactivity. Diane decide to take him back into her home to take care of him after he has been on an institution for people who has problem. She make all to help him. All is difficult for them....A new neighbor Kyla (Suzanne Clément) som live across the street, visited them and she offers her help. Together they want to help Steve.

Las Películas de la 25 edición del Festival Internacional de Cine de Estocolmo


Solo quedan ocho días para que el Festival de Cine de Estocolmo se inaugure y son muchas películas que según los comentarios som muy buenas y se hace muy dificil de elegir cual ver, pensando que es un  programa de 180 películas de mas de 50 paises, en diferentes categorias y en varios idiomas.

The Keeping Room
Aquí algunas películas que recomiendo ver durante el festival. La película "The Keeping Room" del dirictor Daniel Barber se estará mostrando durante el Festival de Cine y el director visitará el festival entre el 12-15 de noviembre.
La pelicula "The Keeping Room" es acerca de tres mujeres del sur, dos hermanas y una esclava  afroamericana que viven solas en el campo tratando de sobrevivir en el Sur de los Estados Unidos durante la Guerra Civil Americana. Estas tres mujeres se ven obligadas a defender su casa del ataque de un grupo de soldados que han desertado del ejército. Esta película estaba basada en el guión de Julia Hart, aqui podemos ver la sobrevivencia de estas tres mujeres en un lugar desierto, abandonado y que por su propia cuenta tienen que buscar las solución a la vida diaria y el de defenderse en un período de guerra. Este largometraje del director Barber de la sensación de estar viendo una película que nos lleva un poco al estilo Western.  

El director logra dar un carácter fuerte y valiente a las tres mujeres, especialmente a Augusta (Brit Marling) y Mad (Muna Otaru), a Louise (Hailee Steinfeld), pero Louise es una jovencita que necesita mas ayuda y es defendida por las dos mujeres. Aunque las tres mujeres viven sola y tienen que apoyarse, se puede ver en la película la autoridad de patronas que tienen las dos hermanas contra la esclava negra.
Es un largometraje muy bueno y con una excelente actuación de las actrices.

White God
La película White God del director Kornél Mundruczó. Es una película que se trata sobre la niña Lill, de 13 años y su perro Hagen.
La niña viene a vivir con su padre, pero en el edificio no es aceptado tener perros que no sean de razas puras. El perro es abandonado en la calle. La niña lo busca en la ciudad sin resultados positivo. El perro es capturado y cae en mano de un entrenador de perros que lo entrena para ser perro de lucha. La vida de Hagen cambia, va de un lugar a otro, es encerrado con otros es encerrado con otros perros. Se da una revolución de perros..Quién será el que va a detenerlos?

Es una película muy interesante, donde los perros se hacen inteligentes y luchan contra los hombres malos que los han maltratado. La diferencia de perrros entre raza natural y los perros cruzados. Ni los perros se escapan en la división de clase. Hagen hace todo por encontrar a su ama, al igual Lill por encontrar a su perro. Es una revolución de perros contra la humanidad. Una película de ficción. Lo mas interesante y que me intriga es como el director logro la obediencia de los perros. El mensaje de la película podria ser que la humanidad es la que transforma y no solo a los humanos, sino también a los animales. Es también el mensaje sobre el maltrato a los perros, Tambien puede decir que al perro se le entrena para defender a su amo y al soldado  para defender a su patria. Puede ser una comparación Humanidad-Animales.

Es muy interesante la filmación de la película, el seguimiento de la cámara, los movimientos del rodaje, mucho movimiento. Algunas escenas de la película son muy duras y da nauseas.
La película White God fue ganadora de Un Certain Regard en el Festival de cine de Cannes 2014.

El Club Riot
La película The Riot Club, es una película inglesa dirigida por Lone Sherfig. El largometraje se trata sobre dos estudiantes del primer año de la privilegiada Universidad de Oxford, Miles (Max Irons) y Alistair (Sam Claflin), los dos quieren unirse al famoso Riot Club.
Un club que se caracteriza por su mala reputación, cenas en restaurantes caros y destrozos en los mismo que son parte de las reglas del club. Miles y Alistair quieren mostrar durante una noche que ellos tienen todo lo que se necesita para ser miembros del club, donde pueden conseguir reputación o destruir su vida en solo una noche”.

La Tribu
La película "La Tribu"  escrita y dirigida por el director Ucraniano Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy. La película será presentada el 9 de noviembre. En el festival de Cannes 2014 la película "The Tribe" fue la vencedora absoluta de la Semana de la Crítica.

Sergey es un joven sordomudo que ingresa en un internado que se especializa en estudiantes sordomudos.

En este nuevo centro encuentra el joven un mundo lleno de mafia y violencia, con una banda de jovenes, con la jerarquia del grupo, que se dedican a robos, crimen, tratas de blanca y prostitución. Sergey poco a poco entra tambien en esta banda de jovenes delicuentes, ya que sino lo hace será un joven marginado en el centro. Sergey tiene relación amorosa con una de las chicas que se dedican a la prostitución y es la chica de uno de los lideres, de esta manera rompe Sergey las reglas de La Tribu.

La Tribu, es una película muy violenta. Las escenas de sexo y violencia son muy fuertes y dan repulsión, y asquerosidad. El suspenso aumenta mas ya que es una película sin palabras, ni diálogos, es solo el lenguaje de señas durante todo el desarrollo del largometraje, esto hace que el espectador se mantenga en suspenso y en espera de los acontecimientos durante toda la película.
Uno como expectador queda paralizado de ver la crueldad y violencia de estos jovenes, pero en medio de toda este mundo cruel se da un reflejo de amor entre Sergey y Anna. Jovenes que viven y se hacen adulto en este mundo violento donde los adultos cooperan a la destrucción de los jovenes.
La película es una historia cruel, pero es muy interesante la realización de la película donde no hay palabras, es el silencio y los gestos que mantienen al espectador 130 minutos en suspenso para ver el desarrollo y el fin de la historia.  
En el festival de Cannes 2014 la película "The Tribe" fue la vencedora absoluta de la Semana de la Crítica.

Nightcrawler
La película Nightcrawler dirigida por el director Gilroy y es una película de estreno como director se presentará en el Festival de Cine de Estocolmo el día 8 de noviembre y la cual tendrá su premier en los cinemas suecos el día 28 de noviembre. La película es distribuída por Nobel Entertainment. 
La película narra la historia de un joven Lou Bloom, el está en busca trabajo, no lo encuentra y una noche descubre el mundo de ser freelance en periodismo, comienza en este medio donde no hay mucha seguridad para esta profesión. La película se desarrolla en la ciudad de Los Angeles, California. La vida del protagonista va a cambiar mucho, cuando el va descubriendo como funciona el mundo de la comunicación, el inventa su propia forma de como entrar al mundo periodistico, donde no hay limites, lo importantes es quien da la primera noticias de sensación y no importa el riesgo y lo peligroso que esta sea, es solo entrar y subir en la prefesión periodística.

Nigthcrawler. es una película de debut del director Dan Gilroy. El director hace un excelente trabajo en con la película, y se mete a un mundo de competencia como son los medios de comunicación, donde él refleja como se puede llegar a tener un lugar en este mundo. Ademas es una excelente interpretación del personaje realizado por el actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Se puede decir que es una película que crítica a los medios de comunicación de Los Angeles, a las noticias sensacionalistas que se ven cada día en la Televisión americana. Es una película interesante y el actor Jake Gyllenhaal hace un buen papel.

The Goob

La película The Goob es una película de debut del director Guy Myhill. 
El joven Goob Taylor (Liam Walpole), de 16 años, tiene vacaciones y cree tendrá libertad de disfrutarla su tiempo libre y vivir su juventud durante las vacaciones. Llega a la comunidad rural al este de Inglaterra, donde vive junto a su madre. Janet (Sienna Guillory). Su madre vive con su nueva pareja Gene (Sean Harris), un hombre psicopata, a quien le gusta los coches de alta velocidad. Es un hombre arrogante y curel, y quien constantemente es infiel. La comunidad vive atterrorizada por este hombre quien es un terrateniente y dueno de plantaciones. Este terrateniente obliga a sus vecinos y familiares a trabajar en sus cultivos a cambio de darles protección. El joven es humillado por este hombre. 

La película es la historia de jovenes reprimidos y sin ningun futuro en esta zona rural.La dominación y opresión del adulto a la juventud y los demas seres debiles, como es el caso de Janet, que es una mujer sumisa y que no hace nada por cambiar su sitación y ayudar a su hijo a salir del círculo de violencia que viven. El director consigue mantener al público en tensión y en espera de un desenlace trágico, una reacción de los marginados o el escape de los personajes a la crueldad del tirano de la película.

La pelí se llevo el Hitcchcock de Oro el 25 Festival de Cine de Británico en Dinard. La película recibió muy buenas críticas en el Festival de Cine de Venecia.  El director Guy Myhill ha realizado varios documentales y con está película comienza su carrera en las películas de largometrajes. 
































The Crew Premiere of Dyke Hard by Bitte Andersson

Yesterday it was the crew premiere of the movie Dyke Hard at cinema Victor in the Filmhouse in Stockholm. It was a great premiere with many guests. Dyke Hard will have it's world premiere at Stockolm International Film Festival on November 8th. Dyke Hard is a greast, funny movie. If you want to have fun you must see this movie.

Rising Star Award Nominees 2014 visited Stockholm Film Festival office at Kungsträdgården

This afternoon four of six nominated for the Rising Star Award at Stockholm International Film Festival visited the festivals office at Kungsträdgården. They told about their work as actresses and actors, their work on movies, future plans and their opinions about the Film Festival.
Saga Becker (Something Must Break)
Saga Becker is a swedish actress. She is actress in the the film Something Must Break (2014) by director Ester Martin Bergsmark. The film is A love story between two young men where one is the androgynous Sebastian and one is Andreas who is not gay. They form a unity. It's them against the polished Swedish Ikea-society. They dream about escaping boredom and the risk of becoming what everyone else is. And then there is Ellie - the superwoman growing inside of Sebastian who Andreas loves and fears.

Película Foxcatcher del director Benett Miller

Fotcatcher es una película del director Bennett Miller. La película está basada en una historia real.  Es sobre John du Pont, un multimillonario que vive solo con su madre  y los hermanos Mark and David Schultz, ambos medallas de oro en lucha libre en juegos Olímpicos.
El luchador Mark Schultz recibe una invitación del multimillonario John du Pont para que venga a su residencia, estando alli le propone ser parte de un  centro de entrenamiento para preparar atletas para los Juegos Olimpicos de Seúl en 1988. Mark acepta la oferta y se traslada a la residencia del multimillonario, dejando a su hermano David Schultz, entrenador de lucha libre. Mark deja todo por una vida nueva, la cual al final cambiará totalmente. 
El millonario logra después que David Schultz, campeón olímpico acepte también su propuesta de ser entrenador en su centro de lucha libre. David acepta la propuesta y se convierte en entrenador del centro del multimillonario. 

La película enfoca la relación de amistad entre el multimillonario John du Pont, quien sufre de esquizofrenia y los hermanos Schultz, que terminará en un final trágico para el millonario y los hermanos Schultz.

Es un muy buen largometraje sobre la hermandad, amistad, lealtad y también sobre la corrupción cuando se tiene mucho dinero. Un buen rodaje con una excelente narración sobre la vida de los personajes principales y con fotos muy bonitas. El director Bennett Miller recibió premio en el Festival de Cannes como el mejor director. Foxcatcher recibió la Palma de Oro en Cannes

La película será presentada en el Festival de Cine Internacional de Estocolmo y tendrá premier en los cinemas suecos el día 19 de diciembre. La película es distribuida por United International Pictures.  La película la podrán ver en el festival de cine de Estocolmo los días 7-9 de noviembre.

Stockholm Filmfestival celebrate this year – 25th Anniversary

The 25th annual Stockholm Film Festival will begin on november 5th and the festival is held until november 16th. The festival will show 180 films from more than 50 different countries. The theme of the festival is "HOPE".  There is several film with this theme: Barbarians by Ivan Ikic (Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia), Desert Dancer by Richard Raymond (UK), Fair Play by Andrea Sedlácková (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany) and many more. Most of movies with the theme hope is at section Spotlight.

The opening film is "Gentleman" of the Swedish director Mikael Marcimain.

The festival does not only show movies. The festival also has seminars, Face2Face, parties and many other activities during those days the festival is held, all revolving around movies. This year the festival is dedicated to the memory of the actress Lauren Bacall. Lauren Bacall was an american actress, known for her husky voice. She was a Hollywood icon for her sultry sensuality. She passed away on august 12th, 89 years old when she died.

The Stockholm visionary Award 2014 goes to the Swedish film director Roy Andersson. He won the Golden Lion prize during the Venice film festival for the movie A pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence.  
Roy Andersson is also known for his films A Swedish Love Story and Songs from the second Floor.  The director will receive the award on november 9th at Skandia cinema. He will have a Face2Face with the audience.  

Lifetime Achievement Award 2014 goes to one of Europe’s most exceptional directors, Mike Leigh. He is an English writer and director of film and theatre. The director will visit the festival to get the award and to have a Face2Face at Skandia cinema on 8th november. After he gets the award they will be screening his film Mr Turner.

Justification: Every new Mike Leigh feature is an invitation to a glimpse into lives so fully formed and vivid with a cast of actors who portray not characters, but breathing, living people. This year's Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a filmmaker who is comfortable humanizing master artists, abortionists and people who others would shy their gaze from. Mike Leigh is a true cinematic humanist, an exceptional director of actors and a master of improvisational filmmaking. (from Stocokholm Film Festival website)

Stockholm Achievement Award 2014 goes to the American actress Uma Thurman.  Uma Thurman has been in different movies. She had her film debut in the film Daddy Goodnight (1987). She also appeared in Pulp Fiction (1994). She has been nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award.
Uma Thurman will visit the festival to receive The Prestigious Bronze Horse and she will have a Face2Face with the audience. The award ceremony and Face2Face will be at Skandia cinema.  The actress Uma Thurman will also participate in the inauguration ceremony and she will be unveiling the ice sculpture of the artist Ai Weiwei.

Xavier Dolan, director of the film Mommy will also visit the festival this year. His new film Mommy will screen on 6th november at Skandia cinema. The film Mommy won the Jury Prize in Cannes. He will have a Face2Face with the audience. Xavier Dolan was in Stockholm during the Film Festival 2010.

The Stockholm International Film Festival will present many movies in different categories and languages. It will present 14 movies from Latin America, including film from Brazil, those film are in cooperation with Cinema do Brasil. The director Gregorio Graziosi will visit the festival between november 8-12th.

Now the ticket office is open and you can buy the tickets at Kungsträdgården and Kulturhuset. You need to have a memberships card to buy regular tickets for 75 kronor or 50 kronor per film, but you can also buy tickets without to have a memberships card but it cost 145 or 120 kronor per film.
